What is pegging?
The term “pegging” describes a sexual practice in which an active person anally penetrates another with a strapon. A strapon is a sex toy designed to mimic a penis by securing a dildo around the hips.
Pegging is derived from the English verb “to peg”, which translates to “to nail” or “to peg”. The first use in a sexual context were the so-called “peg boys”. The peg boys were young male prostitutes who (especially on ships) had to wear a “peg”, i.e. a wooden plug, at all times in order to be ready for customers at any time.
The term “BOB” is also common in English. This stands for “bend-over-boyfriend” and is used in the context of a cis-female person penetrating their cis-male partner. The term was originally coined by cis-hetero, but is now used to refer to anyone with a strapon.
What do you need for pegging?
As mentioned initially, pegging is a practice that requires a strapon. You should also have patience and lubricant. Choosing the right model is not easy at first. If you have no experience with anal play, you may want to start with different sized plugs and other anal toys that are operated manually to get the feel for it.
What is special about pegging?
Pegging is particularly popular in BDSM in constellations with a dominant cis-female and a submissive cis-male. The strapon mimics a penis and the roles of the classic penetrator and penetrated person are reversed, which can be humiliating for the latter. But anal stimulation, especially of the prostate, also plays an important role for many.
However, pegging can be carried out by people of any gender identity. It’s not for nothing that there are a variety of different strapon variants. Penis sleeves can also be used or a strap-on can be worn above the penis while the actual penis is not used at all. Femdoms can use this for humiliating games with their cis-male sub. For people with vaginas, there are models with and without an insertable part.
Same-sex couples or genderfluid and pansexual people enjoy the variety of variations that come with it. Penetration done hands-free is often more intense.
What is important when pegging?
Pegging has a lot to do with letting yourself go. Make sure the atmosphere is pleasant and take your time the first time. As usual, set limits must be adhered to in all cases. As with anal sex and all other anal play, patience should be present. Hygienic care of toys is essential. If you penetrate both the vagina and anus with a strapon, use two different toys, attachments or condoms. This is how you can avoid fungal and urinary tract infections.
Best is to test the equipment beforehand to make sure where it should sit. You should also test the basic movement sequences, positions and postures beforehand.
