What are love balls?

Love balls are a sex toy and medical tool for strengthening the pelvic floor of people with vaginas. They are inserted into the vagina and held there for a certain period of time, which trains the surrounding muscles. The correct name is actually vaginal balls. But they are also known by names such as pleasure balls, orgasm balls, love balls or pleasure beads. Subspecies from the Far East are known under the names Rin-no-tama, Ben Wa Balls, Geisha balls or Yoni Eggs.

The prototype of all these products consists of two or three interconnected spheres of different sizes and weights. They stimulate and strengthen the muscles either through their weight alone, through rotating inner balls or even built-in vibrators. They are also available as individual balls or eggs without a return strap, and made from a wide variety of materials such as plastic, silicone, latex, glass, types of stone and metal.

What do you use love balls for?

As mentioned above, love balls serve primarily as a medical aid by training the muscles of the pelvic floor. In particular the so-called PC muscle (musculus pubococcygeus), which is used, for example, to interrupt the urine stream.

This training, in turn, can help prevent urinary tract incontinence, relieve menstrual pain or rebuild any damaged pelvic floor muscles after childbirth. But even without medical necessity, love balls are very popular. Because training with them can increase the ability to have more intense orgasms. Many people also find the wearing experience itself to be pleasant and even stimulating. Another interesting benefit from the erotic area is the increased ability to compress during sexual intercourse. This can also be extremely stimulating for the penetrating part.

Since carrying the balls is literally a training exercise, they are also often used as part of discipline or Sub- or Serf training.

What do I have to consider when using them?

Love balls are silent and invisible to the outside world. So they can be used at any time and with absolute discretion. They are inserted vaginally like a tampon. Don’t forget to wash your hands!

It is ideal for pelvic floor training if you do not sit while wearing the love balls, but are normally active and move around. The training effect arises from the fact that the love beads are now held in the vaginal tube in such a way that they do not simply fall out due to gravity. The balls are removed again using a retrieval strap or by specifically pressing them out. After use, the balls should be cleaned at least with soap and water, or even better with a special toy cleaner.

Beginners should start with light balls and about ten minutes a day. Advanced users can increase to an hour or even half a day. Or you can vary the weights. Basically, the smaller and heavier the balls, the harder they are to hold.

Although there are special pelvic floor workouts, pelvic floor training is basically rhythmic tension exercises, also known as Kegel training. They can be done almost anywhere. For example, when driving, waiting at the checkout or sitting in the office chair. Simply imagine that you are pulling your vagina upwards. Like an elevator going up. Then you slowly let go of the tension after a few seconds.

Another exercise is to consciously stop the stream while urinating and then let it go again. A third exercise is to pull on the ribbon of the love balls and try to counteract the pull by tensing the pelvic floor.

What do I need to consider when buying?

Vaginal balls are available in a variety of materials, for example silicone, glass or metal. Make sure that the connection between the balls is not made of textile material. Such ribbons soak up body fluid and transport it into the interior of the ball. This provides a breeding ground for bacteria and, if used further, can lead to inflammation and fungal infection. Balls made of medical silicone or latex, which consist of a single piece of smooth surface, are better. Depending on your training progress, start with light and larger balls and slowly increase to heavier love balls.
