Pegging is beautiful, exciting, and special – when the equipment is right. However, finding the right ‘piece’ in the confusing jungle of options is not always easy. Femdom and Deviance author Lynn gives you tips on finding and buying the right strapon for you.
This text titled “Finding the right strapon” first appeared on the blog Zartbitternacht and was made available to Deviance by the owners Lynn and Zaxi. As it is a personal text based on the author’s experiences and everyday life, it describes a cis-heteronormative relationship. However, the tips can be applied to all genders and orientations with an interest in strapon play.
Buying the right strapon
I am passionate about strapon sex. The feeling of power and control is incomparable and I can well remember the initial hurdles. The most difficult thing by far was finding the right equipment to be able to have fun myself and at the same time get the desired reaction from the man. There are also a lot of questions on Twitter about which strapon is best for women. I’ll try to give you a little insight today.
Which models are available?
- Harness in the form of a thong, for example, the models from Teazers with a matching dildo.
- Harness in the form of a string for various dildos
Briefs with integrated dildo, often made of latex
- Strapless strapon models, such as the “Share” from Fun Factory
- Briefs with a system or opening for dildos
- Straps that can be used with various toys, such as the “Strap & Bound,” and do not go through the buttock crease.
- Almost all models are available with and without “counterpart(s)” for the wearer (except strapless, which can’t do without)
Which advantages and disadvantages do each of these have?
Complete sets
Advantage: Usually inexpensive to acquire, readily available, everything you need is included.
Disadvantage: Often lower quality, limited flexibility.
In form of a string
Advantage: Good counterpressure against the pubic bone, many models available, often available at a low cost.
Disadvantage: Can chafe uncomfortably between the buttocks or require wearing underwear.
Latex briefs with dildo
Advantage: Kinky look, the feeling of latex, hygiene.
Disadvantage: Can be very sweaty, not adjustable.
Strapless strapons
Advantage: No straps, hygiene, stimulation for the wearer.
Disadvantage: Strong pelvic floor muscles are necessary, the part for the lady must also be comfortable for her, with high moisture or muscle contraction during the female orgasm, the strap-on tends to lose grip.
System sets
Advantage: 100 percent compatible, often a large selection of different dildos, toys are quick and easy to change .
Disadvantage: Depending on the model selection, often expensive.
Strapon harness with flexible or interchangeable rings
Advantage: High flexibility, adjustable, can be used with many toys, most models do not go between the buttocks, lots of choice of material (leather, jeans, fabric), washable depending on the material.
Disadvantage: Often expensive and not complete at the time of purchase.
What should you look out for when buying a strapon?
I consider the material to be very important, and you can usually tell the quality right away. The nylon straps that adorn the cheaper models tend to cut in. Rubber bands and elastic cords also offer only minimal comfort. Leather, latex, denim, or very high-quality nylon braided straps are much better. Personally, I don’t like it when the strap runs between the buttocks, but that might be a matter of taste.
The size should be adjustable, preferably infinitely. If you’re considering a system, you should check if there are as many pieces available as possible.
If the model has a counterpart, pay close attention to its comfort for you, even while it remains inside you as you move around a lot. Often, the angle is also crucial. And the best strapon sex isn’t enjoyable if you feel uncomfortable internally with every thrust.
[…] Do you want the man to come over the prostate during pegging? Then think about which position suits you best, because the shape of the toy and its surface can be the deciding factor here.
How much does it cost?
[…] There are affordable sets where the same dildo is always attached. These might be an option if you’re not sure if you’ll even like it. However, these pieces won’t make you happy in the long run. If it constantly pinches, cuts in, or presses and rubs, it probably won’t be much fun.
Furthermore, your spirit of experimentation is pretty limited when the “thing” is always the same, and in the worst case, it’s also an uncomfortable dildo for your partner. And you do want to get them interested, right?
I currently prefer to use the Strap & Bound myself. The strap costs around 75 euros and doesn’t include a dildo. However, the flexible ring means it works with almost any toy, so you can start with inexpensive dildos. What’s unbeatable is that the Strap & Bound also works with all strapless models, giving them even more grip. If you already have a dildo of any kind, the strap is all you need to start with, and that’s a big plus.
If you have good pelvic floor muscles, you can also try starting with a strapless model. The Share from Fun Factory also costs around 70 euros, but there are also some from other suppliers from 45 euros. To stabilize them, you can also simply add a hole to a slip that is no longer as pretty as it used to be. I also own a Share from Fun Factory and, together with my harness, it practically guarantees an orgasm for me during sex with a strapon.
